It’s fun to work in the private sector. On the other hand, government jobs are also equally fun and provide stability. Working in the government provides a lot of perks. Regardless of your intent, I will try to give a detailed hint/information on how to apply for government jobs in the Philippines.
Here are some key factors you have to know first:
- Government agencies in the Philippines normally prioritize Filipino citizens. If you are a foreigner, don’t lose hope because you may still land a job depending on the agency.
- Civil Service passers are also given priority for top-level positions. If you want to land a good post, take the Civil Service Exam hosted by the Civil Service Commission. They conduct the exams 2-3 times a year. The fee is very minimal. You can do it!
- If you would like to become a police officer or a licensed firefighter, you will have to take some other special exams like the NAPOLCOM exam for the aspiring police officers.
- For teachers, they have the LET or the Licensure Exam for Teachers.
The bottom line here is to pass the required exam. If you don’t really like to become a teacher or a policeman/woman, then a civil service eligibility is already good for you to get started. Do you need more information about the civil service exam? This is their website: http://www.csc.gov.ph/
Where Can You Apply
Once you have a civil service eligibility, you can send your application letter as well as your resume or CV to the government agency of your choice. Have you picked one, yet?
Try browsing through the government website and go to the “Careers” section to check of their job openings. Ready your application letter or letter of intent with an updated resume. Also, make sure that your contact number is updated as well as the email address you provided. Discern whether you have the required skills or qualifications for the job.
